Process serving, is carried out by Private Investigators on a regular basis. Process Serving involves investigatory skills and can be said to overlap / fall within the definition of Private Investigation. The Private Security Industry Act 2001 defines, “Private Investigation”, as any surveillance, inquiries or investigations that are carried out for thurpose of— obtaining information about a particular person or about the activities or whereabouts of a particular person.
Process Servers are servants of the Courts and you are subject to Civil Procedues and Criminal Procedure Rules – you must serve the documents within certain time scales either personally or in the prescribed manner.
